Orissa eves win football series against Bangladesh

A 19-member Orissa women’s football squad, led by international striker Pinki Bompal Magar, returned home tonight after winning a three-match friendly series 2-0 against Bangladesh earlier this week.

Orissa won their two matches at Chittaganj and Narayanganj by 2-0 and 4-0 respectively. The third and last match ended in a 1-1 draw at Bangabandhu Stadium, Dhaka. Three more ties of the six-match series were cancelled due to political tension leading to curfu in many places of the country. The tour was an exchange programme, which started with Bangladesh women’s team playing a series of seven friendly match in Orissa last year.
